A Merger Brings Morley to North Kensington and Chelsea
Morley College London has been a client for the past five years and during that time they have undergone a merger creating three centres serving learners in London.
Collaborative Genius Yields Beautiful Results
During lockdown, I worked in collaboration with an amazing Bristol-based designer via Zoom to develop a visual identity for their three centres. One of the devices we employed was the use of the irregular polygon shape to visually represent that the offering wasn’t the same for everyone — it was flexible and varied with different entry points and routes personal to the learner.
We designed a suite of assets that the in-house marketing team could use for their website, social media, Google Web Stories, leaflets, outdoor, etc., including shoots that I art directed.
Letting the Specialisms Speak for Themselves
The print material shown here I created — three guides, with the 16–18 guide being A6 to be pocket size. I took a different approach for these guides. Traditionally, Morley used images of people on their covers, but to celebrate the specialist nature of this college, I pitched to highlight the courses on offer to draw people in that are interested (and equally to allow people to self opt-out if this college isn’t for them). The guide covers were printed with a spot UV on the courses and a matte varnish on the whole cover so that the courses really popped.

Heritage is at the Heart of Morley
Critical to Morley’s brand — from its early beginnings more than 130 years ago in Waterloo — are stories. There’s the story of Emma Cons, artist, social reformer, suffragette and founder of Morley. There’s the story of the two newest centres, North Kensington and Chelsea, and most importantly, are the stories of the learners and tutors.
Your Story Starts Here
For the 16–18 audience, we developed the ‘Your Story Starts Here’ campaign and then showed how your story continues through higher education.
The Students Tell Morley’s Story
I interviewed current 16–18 students during a shoot and was able to get soundbites sharing how Morley is shaping their story. One of my favourite quotes was “At Morley, you’re given the freedom to think wildly.”

Short Courses Offer Learners a New Chapter
We differentiated short courses (for which there are thousands) with nine colour bands for each of the nine categories that we utilised as an element to depict that area. The concept ‘Craft a new chapter’ went along with the stories that were specific to each learner on their educational and career path.
No Two Journeys are the Same
The waves are a device to show that no two journeys are the same.
Some of the ways we pitched that the headlines could be adapted for different course areas. The focus here was on verbs that related to the field of study.
